Why do People Mountain Climb?

Why do people climb mountains? This is a question that we have been asked ever since we started offering Kilimanjaro tours. While the question itself may seem straightforward, the answer certainly proves less so.

The fact of the matter is people climb mountains for several different reasons. There isn’t one all-encompassing explanation that will fit every climber. True, some people may think those who do are: courageous, thrill seekers, daredevils, risk takers, or conquerors, but does that really tell you why someone would take on a mountain? Zara Tours boasts the world's best African Safari ToursTanzania, Africa – Zara Tours is proud to announce upcoming Mt. Kilimanjaro climbs, taking place this summer in June and July. The climbs will feature guide, author, and expert climber Macon Dunnagan.

Dunnagan is proud to bring the summer climbs back to Tanzania for the 33rd and 34th time in a row. While his climbs are largely charitable in nature, his two treks this summer will focus on teaching climbers how to properly summit the 19,000 foot mountain.

Mt. Kilimanjaro Treks – It’s All About Timing

Mt. Kilimanjaro treks are held all year long, but there are better times and worse times over a 12 month span to climb the mountain’s summit. A lot of tourists plan their trips around the migratory patterns of the animals on the plains below.

This is acceptable, but going by that determination alone might cause you to miss something spectacular. Mt. Kilimanjaro treks can show you Africa from a different vantage point. (more…)

A Wilderness of One: The Appeal of an Africa Safari

The Africa safari, no matter where it takes place, paints a picture of an entire continent. Visitors are introduced to the sprawling savanna that covers Tanzania, Kenya, Zanzibar and other corners of these vast and wild countries. Wildlife exists here in the millions and it’s surrounded by great mountain peaks and mist-cloaked volcanoes.
