Getting to Know Tanzania through Travel

Tourists frequently ask us, “What is the best way to get acquainted with Tanzania?”

“Travel” is always our answer.

True, the response usually gets a laugh at first. After all, we are in the tourism industry. Of course our answer would have something to do with travel, but we are serious. If you want to get to know Tanzania, travel is the best way to do it.

The Haven of East Africa

The country, as it exists today, was formed as a republic in 1961. It remains one of the most popular destinations on the continent. The reason for that lies somewhere between the Serengeti Reserve and the country’s commitment to sustainable tourism.

Visitors are very familiar with the traditional idea of an African safari and that trekking Mount Kilimanjaro is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that few can pass up, but there’s a lot more to Tanzania travel than this two-dimensional view.

Visitors are often surprised to learn the true breadth of what Tanzania has to offer. Trips here are planned best if you know what kind of things you want to see in advance. There are four main categories that can help you make well-rounded Tanzania travel plans.

They are:

  1. Safari
  2. Mountain adventure
  3. Seascape
  4. History and culture

We may have the largest span of reserve lands in the world, but that illustrates just how much there is left to discover about this amazing place.

Achieving Sustainable Balance

Tanzania has had a reputation to uphold since laying claim to a large piece of the African tourism market. That reputation has become synonymous with the welcoming nature of the people and the balance that has been struck to sustain the country.

What are we talking about? In a word: geo-tourism. This region of East Africa is one of the first places the movement took root. We have unlocked the secret to continuing to offer visitors the sightseeing experiences they want while also finding ways to preserve these attractions for future generations and support the surrounding community through tourism.

For instance, consider the kind of experience you’ll have on a mountain trek, safari, or searching for historical sites and/or cultural events.

Whenever possible, we strive to make your accommodations part of the natural surroundings while still maintaining a consistent level of luxury and comfort. If you visit the Crater of Mankind, there are lodgings discreetly located along the crater’s edge. This gives you unbelievable access to one of the most amazing sights in nature without disrupting it.

You can have a similar experience on a safari. Some groups choose a campsite on the open plains; others prefer the resort-style experience. Even trekking Kilimanjaro remains accessible to climbers from the novice to the expert. There are six routes to choose from. Select the right route based on your experience level.

We find it works best to offer visitors multiple ways to set their Tanzania travel plans. That way, it truly becomes your trip of a lifetime. Contact Zara Tours for more information.
