Travel to Tanzania may be an item on your bucket list, or it may never have crossed your mind until now. Either way, there are plenty of interesting things to see and do while you are in the country. To give you an idea of what this destination has to offer, Zara Tours has put together a highlight reel of interesting facts about this area of Africa.

“Jambo, Bwana”

If the words above make you smile, it can only mean one thing: you have seen the view from the roof of Africa. This Swahili greeting translates to, “Hello, mister.” Traditionally, porters will sing a celebratory blessing over their climbing parties before the departure to Kilimanjaro’s summit. It is just one example of the signature, energetic entertainment elements visitors experience when they travel to Tanzania.

The country itself was founded in 1964. Since then it has been wooing tourists with its greatest export: tourism. The unique thing about tourism in Tanzania is that it not only sustains the country, it also protects and preserves it. When you travel to Tanzania, you can see that preservation at work. A percentage of any trip you take is donated to local charities, like:

  • The Porter’s Society
  • Local orphanages
  • Malaria prevention projects
  • Various aid-based projects

The unique perspective that Zara Tours offers is that you can take an active role in watching your dollars at work. Tourists often embrace the opportunity to visit the local orphanage and other charities around the region before trekking the “Coca Cola” trail or heading off on a safari trip. No matter what you do when you travel to Tanzania, it is good to stay grounded in the very real difference you are making in the lives of others.

Nguvu of Moja

It means “power of one” in Swahili. Not only that we are all one, but that we can all make a difference. Even in the wilds of the Serengeti, there is a sense of community in Tanzania.

You can see the largest population of rhinos or run with the lions, but you are never alone – never disconnected from what it means to be here. That’s a big part of what makes traveling to Tanzania so special. It gets ahold of you and transforms the way you see the world around you. That’s why people keep coming back to this place.

This is just a glimpse of what you will see on your visit to the region. Check out other areas of the website to find packing tips, firsthand accounts, pictures, history, and more facts about the area. It is our goal to introduce you to the sights and sounds of Tanzania. Hopefully, after you get a taste of what life is like here, you’ll want to come see it for yourself.  We encourage you to plan your first trip today!

Tanzania has a draw like nowhere else on earth. Contact Zara Tours for information, and answer the call of Africa for yourself.
